Any One else a Tim Burton Fan??

Hi Everyone,

Today I went to the Tim Burton exhibition at Federation Square here in Melbourne, and, It was amazing!

You may not know his name but you will know his movies, Edward Scissor Hands, The Corpse Bride, Beetle Juice and the new version of Alice In Wonderland to name but a few.

The exhibition featured illustrations and models from throughout his career to date, and included some costumes worn in the new Alice in Wonderland movie (Alices red and blue dresses, The Mad Hatters costume, The Red Queens booties and The Chesire Cat's hat), The detail in which was amazing to see up close.

One thing that was a point of Interest for me was the his use of colour. I had mostly associated Tim Burton with dark and ominous but while the subjects were dark the colours were definetly not! Which is what makes them great in my view.

If you are in Melbourne it is definetly worth a look. Sadly I could not take pictures in the expo but here's a few I have put together for your enjoyment.

  1. Oh I would have loved that exhibition. I am a huge Tim Burton fan and have most of his movies at home, books/illustrations and so on. I bet you had an amazing time. I'm a bit jealous.

  4. My sister and me are frenetic Burton-aficionadas, too!! Everything "burtonesque" we can get is doomed to become one of our treasures.. Naturally we watched every single film he made.
We would have loved to visit that exhibition - but Melbourne is a bit too far from Germany.. ;"§
But who knows.. There may be an exhibition in Germany some day..

I was actually a little dissapointed there wasn't more in the gift shop. I did get 10 postcards of Illustrated numbers 1 through 10 for my sons bedroom, will post up some pics for you when I get a chance!
